About Sikhism

Sikhism (Sikhi) is a spiritual tradition founded in Punjab, emphasizing devotion to the One Formless Divine (Ik Onkar), remembrance of Naam, truthful living (sach), humility, equality, and compassionate service (seva). Sikh practice is grounded in the teachings of the Sikh Gurus and the Guru Granth Sahib, which Sikhs regard as the living, eternal Guru. Sikhism calls seekers away from superstition and ego toward inner transformation through the Divine Word (shabad): earn honestly (kirat karni), share with others (vand chakna), remember God (naam simran), and stand for justice without hatred. This guide introduces Sikhism in a beginner-friendly way: core beliefs and values, daily practices (nitnem, simran, kirtan), community life (sangat, pangat/langar), ethical living, and how to begin simply.
